Kela Olsen, Co-Owner Golden Spikes Baseball Academy
Drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2003, Golden Spikes co-founder Kela Olsen specializes in hitting instruction and infield instruction. He has worked with players from ages 6 to 21 years of age in all facets of the game over the past 16 years. As a player, Mikela was a switch-hitting first baseman and outfielder and he played five years of professional baseball.
Kela has trained over 100 athletes that have gone on to advance to the college, professional and MLB ranks.
Prior to his professional baseball career, Mikela was a standout college baseball player, playing for the Sacramento State University Hornets under Coach
John Smith, who is one of only a handful of coaches to record more than 800 career NCAA wins. As a member of the Hornets Mikela was the team M.V.P. in
2003, was awarded the Independent Conference Hitter of the Year in 2003 and was named to Sacramento State Baseball’s All-Decade Team for the years of 2001-2010.
His coaching journey is an extensive one. Along the way Coach Kela was the hitting and outfield coach at Sierra College. He has also coached at the high school ranks at Granite Bay as well as Del Oro High Schools. To go with his 16 years of coaching travel baseball and 18 years of giving personal baseball instruction.
